About Albright Pottery Studio
Rose and Larry share a passion for American folk art, especially primitives and pottery, which continues to influence their work. Both graduated as Art Majors and are fortunate that they have both been able to make a living as full-time artists. Albright Pottery Studio was founded in 1990, and since then has participated in regional art and craft shows.
In the summer of 2006, Larry left Armstrong World Industries, Inc. where he had been the
Advertising Design Manager, to pursue personal business interests – Albright
Pottery Studio and Albright
Design Studio (an Advertising Design and
Illustration Studio), which together, require a full-time commitment.
While Larry enjoys throwing clay and hand-building
birds and other animals upon many of the pieces,
he also employs the technical skills required
to mix and create the majority of the Studios
glazes. Some of those glazes utilize the ash
from their wood stove they use to heat their
log home. None of the glazes contain lead. Rose,
who’s
decorating skills bring a special flare to their
work, also enjoys handbuilding and creating redware
jewelry and ornaments.
Albright Pottery Studio is a family venture that
includes occasional handbuilt works by their
son Andrew (also an Art Major graduate) , daughter-in-law,
Jennifer, and their grandchildren Kimberly and
Adam. Their other two grandchildren, Alaina and
Kira, are too young to contribute – yet.
